Wed, 12/3 NOTES
Clock starts as soon as plate meeting finishes.
No I/O or on-field warm ups if you're ready. They should be in dugout and ready to play as soon as you step onto field
PLEASE use PARKING MAP and park in those areas if possible. Pre-gaming and experience-sharing help us all, and it's much easier for us (TDs and me) to locate you between games if you're not at the field. If parking is inadequate, or you anticipate it will be Saturday, let me know so we can adjust.
BASEBALLS: Coaches should have baseballs. If they have not checked in, they need to go to main concession at A/B/C/D1 to get baseballs. DO NOT delay game start. Have them send someone else and get a second ball, to be replaced by other team, to start the game
SCORESHEETS: We are NOT using scoresheets. Use the following template to send to the TDs, whose numbers will follow:
FIELD:
SCHEDULED START:
TEAM 1 NAME AND SCORE:
TEAM 2 NAME AND SCORE:
TEXT TO TDS: 321 696-4974 & 407 663-6100
Pay will come through ArbiterPay
Tue, 12/2 NOTES
ALL 8U is COACH/MACHINE PITCH. NO GEAR is needed for these games. There is NO 8U KID PITCH.
7U & 8U MUST declare coach or machine pitch at plate meeting. They may not change during the game. These are done game-by-game and may choose a different option each time.
I will have vouchers for meals for you. Free water all day. Jump the line, but be polite and courteous to anyone behind you, even if they're less-than polite.
I gave up trying to get the map onto the page, but there is a link to the map.
The map is color-coded with the fields. The shaded areas correspond to where you should park when working the fields labeled with the same .
PRE-TOURNAMENT NOTES
If you’re not 30 minutes early, you’re late!! Communicate if you’re going to be tardy (less than 30 minutes before game time) with me and partner.
16U is actually 18U.
If you have not already, put a head/shoulder shot in Arbiter. They are to help park tournament staff identify you. Action shots, family shots, shots wearing a mask do NOT help.
Check back daily for notes and feedback. You’ll notice there’s a place for a parking map. I may not get to it, so I included it in the text message.
READ THE RULES. There are general rules and rules specific to your age group. At minimum, read the general rules and those for the age group you are officiating. The link is above
Weather delays - It’s a tournament. Sign up for updates from ME and the tournaments RAINED OUT updates by texting:
CLASSIC2025 TO 84483
…and…
OHC25UMPS TO 84483
Saturday & Sunday - I will assign plates. Check Arbiter for updates. Most are already assigned.
Transitions: Weeknights - change or start early if your first game finishes early. No need for 3 plates on weeknights.
Transitions: Saturday/Sunday - On your last game, check to see if you need to stay and start the next game on the bases while the plate umpire changes. Let’s keep the tournament moving!!
PARKING - below is a map showing (or hopefully will be soon) the different parking areas. This was also texted to you. You’ll have cones in the way, so move them. Park ‘smartly.’ Double park with partner on weeknights, for example.
Games are 90 minutes NNI (no new inning). I still have openings Saturday night if anyone wants to work more!!
Coin toss at plate meeting. Shortest manager calls the flip. It’s in the rules!
You MUST record game results (scores). There will be a container (envelope, ziplock etc) on the backstop. FILL OUT BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE FIELD for that game.
I'm working on something for food, but let's not be glutenous! I'm trying to get us a meal (burger, chips, water), and waters are available on demand (request).
Looking forward to seeing you all out there!!
HAVE FUN!!!
